HOW SHE STARTED THE BLOG?
It was all back in 2009 she had the idea of starting a media platform where she can actually unlock the traffic jam inside her head. With the intention to share and inspire people with her virtual journal and actually produce something while figuring out adulting life. She wasn’t an Internet Savvy, she discovered how to Blog and edit photos on photoshop manually by reading books.
WHY DOES SHE BLOG?
She discovered and put her enthusiasm for photography and writing here. She essentially likes the idea of sharing, educating, and being productive by merely keeping herself warm in bed. And because writing also helps her mind and heart to bond. Since they never walked in rhyme. Writing for her is like a self-discovery process. “There are thousands of thoughts lying within us that we don’t know till we write.”
WHAT IS HER BLOG ABOUT?
LILSHELULLABIES was a virtual life journal and in 2010 she changed the main content to a lifestyle blog containing photographs portfolio, travel anecdotes, reviews, and art diaries. But does not rule out the possibility to share her random insights, interests and experiences which hopefully increase youth development.
WHAT DOES SHE DO FOR A LIVING?
By now she hasn’t made any big profits yet. She was focusing on studying and organisation back in the University while keep doing this blog until she made it into a Multinational Corporation company and Indonesia Embassy in Singapore as an intern. Now doing what everyone calls as 'adulting'; working as Corporate Staff with a freelance-side-job sometimes for extra income. She also sometimes sells her own & friend’s preloved stuff on a humanitarian mission and other times to earn extra bucks. On a daily basis, by reading books, studying Bible, toying with Adobe packs in front of a Laptop, playing ukulele (might as well a keyboard, after she saves enough bucks to purchase one), pretending as a great-shower-singer, connecting with a bunch of young Christian, attending ASEAN’s birthday that discussing Human Trafficking and attending Humanitarian World Day’s events were something that keeps her running.
HOW SHE CAME UP WITH PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART?
Photos and Art are the two best aesthetic and expressive things she probably ever encountered. Something about photography that keeps memories eternal and stories inside it express itself without having to say a word that makes it really appealing. Growing up as a daughter with a mother who's a Tailor caused her to be surrounded by fabrics, textiles, patterns, colours, dresses, sewing machines, and fashion magazines. It had given her insight into Art especially dressmaking. And she had fallen for it ever since.
WHAT DOES SHE USE TO TAKE PHOTO AND WHERE TO EDIT THEM?
She now currently using CANON DSLR 550D with a standard lens, sometimes she uses phone cameras too. She normally edit her photos in Adobe Photoshop CC 2020, Photoscape, and Android Apps such as VSCO Cam and InShot.
HOW THE NAME LILSHELULLABIES BECAME HER BLOG’S NAME?
She came out with the name LILSHELULLABIES when she was in junior high by consuming English Dictionary for weeks. ‘Lullabies’ is the term for 'gentle song sung to send a child to sleep' she had found in the dictionary. And the word ‘Lilshe’ is one she had been using as a nickname since junior high. It stands for ‘little she’, while ‘she’ can be used to refer to women but in this case, ‘she’ is part of her Chinese name. She then compiles both words into one.
WHAT IS HER BACKGROUND?
She is currently pursuing her certified Graphic Designer title and studying Digital Marketing and Project Management. With a background study in International Relations, she earned her degree as B.A. Hons (Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree) from the London School of Public Relations – Jakarta. Before she put herself into University, she had taken a gap year to earn money, experience and explore her visions. She was homeschooled after her second year of senior high. She grew up in Church with a Christian community that surrounded her and developed her character there. She had both Chinese & Indonesian names given by her father and grandfather. Most of her family was born in Medan, Indonesia except that grandfather from her pa was purely born, raised, & married in China and was in no pursuit of staying in Indonesia while travelling if that was not because of World War II. Which forced her grandfather to marry a local woman (that happened to be her grandmother). The diversity happened in her pa’s mum, she is mixed Chinese-Javanese. Each of her parents has different religious views with her. She used to celebrate 3 feasts: Chinese New Year, Eid Mubarak and Christmas. She speaks Bahasa, English, Chinese Dialect (Hokkian) and Chinese Mandarin.
WHAT IS HER PERSONALITY TRAIT?
She is an ESFJ. With the differences of Extraverted and Introverted type percentage only amount to 60% & 40%.
